Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: March 30, 2026

The short version
💸
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click and buy, we earn a small commission — typically 5–7% of the sale price.
💰
You pay exactly the same price whether you use our link or go directly to AliExpress. Commissions come from AliExpress's marketing budget, not from your pocket.
🎯
Commission rates never influence which products we feature. We select products based on quality, diversity, and real discount depth — not on which category pays more.
🔗
Affiliate links are routed through rzekl.com (Admitad's tracking domain). This is normal — it's how the commission is attributed to our account.
What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based arrangement where a website earns a commission for recommending products. When a reader clicks a product link on our site and completes a purchase, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale as a referral fee.

This model is widely used by product review sites, blogs, and comparison engines. It allows us to publish free content — buying guides, product roundups, and category pages — without charging readers or running display advertising.

Major publishers including major technology review sites, consumer publications, and shopping guides operate on the same model. The FTC in the US, the ASA in the UK, and equivalent bodies in most countries require clear disclosure of affiliate relationships, which is why this page exists.

Our affiliate partner: Admitad × AliExpress

Smart Choice Shop participates in the Admitad affiliate programme, through which we earn commissions on qualifying purchases made on AliExpress.

  • Admitad GmbH is a global affiliate network that manages the tracking, reporting, and payment of commissions on behalf of AliExpress.
  • AliExpress is a global online marketplace operated by Alibaba Group. It is the retailer — they pay the commissions from their own marketing budget.
  • Our affiliate ID is embedded in every product link. When you click and purchase, Admitad attributes the sale to us and AliExpress pays the commission.
How it works, step by step
👆
You click a product link on our site
Every "Buy on AliExpress" button on our pages is an affiliate link.
Your action
🔀
You pass through rzekl.com (Admitad's tracker)
The URL briefly goes through rzekl.com — this is Admitad's tracking domain. It sets a cookie on your browser (valid for 30 days) that records our affiliate ID. This redirect takes milliseconds.
Admitad tracking
🛍️
You arrive on AliExpress
You land on the product page on AliExpress. The price is identical to what you'd see arriving directly. You browse, decide, and buy (or don't) at your own pace.
AliExpress
If you buy within 30 days, we earn a commission
If you complete a purchase within 30 days of clicking our link, Admitad records the transaction and AliExpress pays us a commission — typically 5–7% of the order value. This comes from AliExpress's marketing budget, not from your payment.
We receive commission
If you don't buy, nothing happens
No purchase = no commission. The tracking cookie expires after 30 days. We receive no payment and no data about your browsing beyond that click.
No cost to you
What we earn — commission rates by category

AliExpress pays different commission rates depending on product category. Below are the approximate rates for our main content areas. These rates are set by AliExpress and Admitad — we have no ability to negotiate them individually.

Category Approx. commission rate
3D Printing & Computer Accessories ~5.4%
Consumer Electronics & Gadgets ~5–7%
Home & Garden ~6–8%
Fashion & Clothing ~6–9%
Automotive & Parts ~5–7%
Toys & Hobbies ~6–8%

These rates mean that if you buy a $90 product through our link, we earn approximately $4.50–$6.30. On many transactions, commissions are pending review and may be reversed if you return the item or dispute the purchase.

Important: the small variation in commission rates across categories does not influence our editorial decisions. A gadget roundup is not made more or less likely to be published because of whether gadgets pay 5% or 7%. We publish roundups where we find genuinely good deals, regardless of category.

How affiliate status affects (and doesn't affect) our content
What we do

Select products based on discount depth, product diversity, and the quality of information available in the product listing. Publish roundups across all categories regardless of commission rate differences.

What we don't do

Accept payment for product placement. Feature products simply because they pay higher commissions. Suppress negative information about a product to protect a commission. Recommend products we wouldn't buy ourselves.

🔍
How products are selected

Our system filters over 100 million AliExpress products. Selections are made by AI and reviewed by a human editor. Commission rate is not an input to the selection algorithm.

📋
Link labelling

All affiliate links are marked with rel="nofollow sponsored" HTML attributes, in compliance with Google's guidelines and FTC requirements for search engines.

Your choices

You are never obligated to use our affiliate links. Here are your options:

  • Use our links — you pay the same price and support our ability to publish free content. This is what we'd appreciate, but it's always your choice.
  • Search AliExpress directly — copy the product name from our roundup and search on AliExpress yourself. You'll find the same product at the same price.
  • Block affiliate tracking — browser extensions such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger can block the Admitad tracking redirect. If you use one, we simply won't receive a commission on any resulting purchase — but you'll still be able to read all our content.
  • Clear cookies — clearing your browser cookies removes any Admitad tracking cookie that may have been set when you clicked a link.
Common questions
No. The price you pay on AliExpress is exactly the same whether you arrive through our link or go directly. Commissions are paid by AliExpress from their own marketing budget — they are not added to your order total.
rzekl.com is Admitad's affiliate tracking domain — it is a legitimate redirect service, not malware or a phishing site. When you click our link, your browser momentarily visits rzekl.com which sets a tracking cookie and forwards you to AliExpress. Admitad is a major, established affiliate network used by thousands of publishers globally. You can verify this by checking the Admitad website at admitad.com.
The Admitad tracking cookie lasts 30 days from the time you click the link. If you make a purchase on AliExpress within 30 days, the sale will be attributed to us. After 30 days, the cookie expires and any subsequent purchase is not attributed to us.
Yes — and we're transparent about this. We process product data at scale from AliExpress feeds covering over 100 million products. We cannot physically test every item. Our descriptions are based on information in the product listing and publicly available knowledge about the brands and material types. We do not invent specifications or make claims that aren't supported by the listing data.
No. We do not accept payment for product placement. Our roundups are built from a database of products that meet our quality and discount criteria. No seller has contacted us, and no seller has paid us, for inclusion in any roundup. The only revenue we earn is the standard affiliate commission on purchases made through our links.
If you return a purchase or raise a dispute, Admitad will typically reverse the commission from our account. This means returns cost us our commission, which aligns our interests with yours — we benefit when you get a product you keep, not when you return it.
Regulatory compliance

This disclosure is made in compliance with the following regulations and guidelines:

  • FTC (USA) — 16 CFR Part 255: Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. The FTC requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections between endorsers and advertisers.
  • ASA / CAP Code (UK) — the UK Advertising Standards Authority requires that affiliate content is clearly identified as such.
  • EU Directive 2005/29/EC — the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, which requires traders to disclose commercial relationships that might influence consumer decisions.
  • Google Search guidelines — all affiliate links include rel="nofollow sponsored" attributes as recommended by Google's link spam policies.

If you have concerns about whether our disclosures meet the requirements of your jurisdiction, please contact us.

Questions about our affiliate relationships?

If you have questions about how we work, a specific product recommendation, or our relationship with any brand or network, we're happy to explain. We think transparency builds trust and we take it seriously.
